IRC

The IRC Channel connects through verified TLS and authenticates with SASL PLAIN. It can receive and send direct messages and channel messages, but it does not support sender pairing or delivery confirmation.

What You Need

  • IRC server hostname;
  • TLS port (default 6697);
  • nickname;
  • SASL username and password; and
  • optional channel names such as #anyy.

The profile follows the IRCv3 specifications and guidance.

Connect in Dashboard

  1. Open Dashboard → Channel → Add.
  2. Choose IRC; its default entry uses TLS and SASL.
  3. Enter host, nickname, SASL username, and TLS port.
  4. Add the SASL password.
  5. Add the channels to join.
  6. Save and reload the Channel.

The default account ID is network.

Access Policies

Both direct messages and group messages default to disabled. After saving credentials, run anyy setup channel interactively and choose IRC to configure policy and allow_from. Dashboard does not expose those inputs.

  • DM supports open, allowlist, or disabled.
  • Group supports mention, open, or disabled.

IRC sender pairing is unavailable. An authenticated allowlist requires IRCv3 account-tag support so Anyy can identify a stable logged-in account; a nickname alone is not sufficient authorization.

Do not use nickname-only trust

Nicknames can change or be reused. For allowlisted access, require network authentication and verify that the server provides account tags.

Verify the Connection

anyy channel doctor irc
anyy channel reload

Confirm SASL login, channel join, a direct message under the selected policy, and a channel message such as BOT_NICK: hello under mention policy.

Delivery Semantics

IRC does not provide final delivery confirmation in this profile. A successful send means the adapter wrote the message to the authenticated IRC connection, not that a human read it.
